Information Notice

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is part of the Family Link Network of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement that helps to clarify the fate and the whereabouts of the missing persons and restore and maintain family links between families separated due to armed conflict, migration, natural disaster and other situations requiring a humanitarian response. This Information Notice provides you with information about how the ICRC and other components of the Family Links Network manage and protect the personal data that you provide to us.

Purposes of Processing and the Sharing of your Personal Data

To help family members restore contact, the ICRC collects and processes the personal data that is requested in the above contact form. The ICRC will need to share the data with other Red Cross/ Red Crescent Movement’s components, and in particular the National Red Cross or Red Crescent Society (“National Society”) or ICRC office in the country where the person in the photo is. They will then contact the National Society or ICRC office in the country where you are. The ICRC or National Society in the country where you are will contact you. The National Societies and ICRC offices who will receive the data you provide us through this form will only use it to verify with information they have on the person in the photo and to contact you. No information that you provide will be shared with the person in the photo or others before contacting you.

Duration of the Retention Period

If the data is shared with an ICRC office in the country where the person in the photo is or in the country where you are, it will keep the data until the family link has been restored or no further action is required. Thereafter, this personal data may still be kept by the ICRC for archiving purposes, including for historical, statistical, and educational reasons.

If the data is shared with a National Red Cross or Red Crescent, the ICRC will delete the data 90 days after the contact form is submitted.

You have certain rights with regards to your Personal Data: you have the right to access your Personal Data, to correct mistakes or inaccuracies and, subject to certain conditions, to have your Personal Data erased (to the extent applicable), or to object, based on compelling legitimate grounds relating to your particular situation, to the Processing of your Personal Data.
